Stand up and represent Alaska’s students and education!

Dear JEA Member,

We are facing the prospect of unprecedented cuts to public education. Under the Senate’s current operating budget, the Juneau School District would face a staggering $3.8 million budget deficit. A cut of this magnitude will eliminate classroom teachers and support staff positions and leave our students without the resources they need to succeed.

We need 50-100 volunteers from JEA, to join our brothers and sisters from across Alaska this Saturday and Sunday in the State Capitol. We will line the halls, occupy the galleries, and present a united front for our students. Wear your school colors and shirts! (Not JEA colors) It is important that we represent our students and public education in Alaska.

Saturday & Sunday
9 AM: Breakfast
10 AM: Briefing

Where: NEA-Alaska office downtown (201 Main St)

Breakfast and refreshments will be provided. Please RSVP by Thursday at 3:30 PM!

I cannot overstate how important it is to have a strong presence in the capitol this weekend. The final decisions have not been made. We can save public education but we cannot do it without your help.

Thank you,
Ricky
