Kudos to Shgen George and Amy Jo Meiners!

Message from Kristin Bartlett, JSD Chief of Staff:

Happy Teacher and Staff Appreciation Day!

Thank you to ALL of our educators for your dedication in making a difference for students today and every day!

Some highlights from the day:

This morning US Secretary of Education John King, Jr. surprised Harborview TCLL Teacher Shgen George with a personal phone call to #ThankATeacher for her for her outstanding work with Juneau students in celebration of Teacher Appreciation Day! Shgen was one of five teachers nationwide who received calls today – the others were in Puerto Rico, California, Texas, and Illinois.

This afternoon President Obama honored the 2016 Teachers of the Year at The White House, including Alaska Teacher of the Year Amy Jo Meiners from Auke Bay and Riverbend Elementary Schools!
