NEA-Alaska Jump Start is a 4-day workshop that provides support for educators planning to pursue National Board Certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).  National Board Certification (NBC) is recognized as a national standard of quality professional achievement.  Jump Start is a key component of NEA-Alaska’s mission to provide quality public education for Alaskan children through continued development of its education professionals.
Jump Start, taught by National Board Certified teachers, is designed to prepare participants for the rigorous process of NBC through which they will describe, analyze and reflect upon their practice.  Participants will become familiar with the foundation, components and requirements of NBC.
This workshop is open to NEA-Alaska members and will be held at the University of Alaska, Anchorage campus.
Note:  Three years of teaching experience is required to apply for the National Board Certification assessment, but is not required to participate in Jump Start.
